Naseer Shamma is an acclaimed musician and humanitarian who serves as an Ambassador for The Non-Violence Project, working to promote a culture of non-violence throughout Iraq.
When becoming an ambassador, Shamma assigned a group of Iraqi intellectuals to study at the Academic University of Non-Violence and Human Rights (AUNOHR) in Beirut. The initiative aimed to form an Iraqi task force dedicated to spreading non-violence education and introducing Non-Violence’s mission across the country.
The group successfully established several workshops in Baghdad and other regions, preparing for the first Iraqi Conference on Non-Violence, which coincided with the unveiling of The Knotted Gun sculpture in central Baghdad.
Through his music and public advocacy, Shamma continues to spread the values of non-violence. He has also pushed for the inclusion of non-violence principles in Iraq’s educational curriculum, reinforcing his dedication to peace and education.
The Non-Violence Project Foundation is a non-profit organization with special consultative status to the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).
