Henrik Lundqvist

Henrik Lundqvist is a Swedish former professional ice hockey goaltender, best known for his 15-season career with the New York Rangers in the NHL. Before winning the Vezina Trophy in 2012, he was nominated in each of his first three seasons and remains the only goaltender in NHL history to record eleven 30-win seasons in his first twelve seasons. He also holds the record for the most wins by a European-born goaltender in the NHL.

Before moving to the NHL, Lundqvist played for Frölunda HC in the Swedish Hockey League, where he became one of the league’s top goaltenders, winning the Honken Trophy three years in a row. Internationally, he led Sweden to Olympic gold in 2006, solidifying his legacy as one of the greatest goalies of his generation.

In 2010, Henrik Lundqvist became a Non-Violence Ambassador, joining forces with his twin brother Joel to create their own interpretation of The Knotted Gun, titled 830 13 for Peace. The sculpture features colors and numbers representing both Henrik’s New York Rangers career and Joel’s Frölunda HC legacy. The name of the sculpture represents the postal code of their hometown Åre in Sweden.
