Swedish explorer and philanthropist Johan Ernst Nilson has completed 52 expeditions across 172 countries, including a journey from the North Pole to the South Pole, climbing the Seven Summits, and cycling from Sweden to the Sahara Desert. His motto, “Everything is possible, the impossible just takes more time,” reflects his determination and adventurous spirit.
Nilson is a strong advocate for environmental sustainability, poverty reduction, and non-violence. "I know that people will always disagree. We are 7 billion people, and there will always be conflicts. But I am certain we can find balance in the world, and the key is information, education, and communication. Our next generation needs to learn moral and ethical values. We need to start understanding and respecting one another better. I am proud to be a global Non-Violence Ambassador and will use all my power to engage people in supporting this important mission. To inspire, motivate, and teach young people how to resolve conflicts peacefully" he has stated.
As a Non-Violence Ambassador, Nilson designed his own interpretation of The Knotted Gun sculpture, originally created by Swedish artist Carl Fredrik Reuterswärd. His sculpture, One World, is decorated with the flags of all UN member states.
